![]() VATICAN NEWS For the latest in Vatican News, <click here> FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR POPE FRANCIS – Wednesday, April 23, at 9:00 a.m. (Rome time), the coffin of Pope Francis will be carried from the Chapel of the Domus Sanctae Marthae to the Papal Basilica of Saint Peter. The procession will cross Piazza Santa Marta and Piazza dei Protomartiri Romani; from the Arco delle Campane it will enter Saint Peter’s Square and the Vatican Basilica via the central door. At the Altar of the Confessio, the Cardinal Camerlengo will preside over the Liturgy of the Word, at the end of which the visits to the body of the Roman Pontiff will begin. On Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. (Rome time), the first day of the Novendiali, on the parvis of Saint Peter’s Basilica, the Funeral Mass of the Roman Pontiff Francis will be held, presided over by Giovanni Cardinal Battista Re, Dean of the College of Cardinal. Burial will take place in the Papal Basilica of St. Mary Major in Rome. Statement by the Most Rev. William T.
