ST. ALPHONSUS CEMETERY NEWS –Some of you may think that having a conversation about “burial plots” and “funeral expenses” is depressing. I can’t speak for you but I would rather know, up front, than be surprised when I am at a low point in my life and not thinking clearly. Or, drop this in the lap of my family. What about you? As a parishioner, to purchase a burial plot is $550.00; non-parishioner $900.00. Usually, the fee associated with opening and closing the grave for internment is included in the billing from the funeral parlour, however, under certain circumstances, that fee is invoiced either to the church (we invoice the family for reimbursement) or directly to the family which usually occurs when there is no local funeral parlour involved. Fees for opening and closing the grave vary, depending if there is an urn or casket. Recently, an urn was interred and the family was charged $402.00 for the internment. If it had been a casket, the charge would have been over $800.00. This is over and above the cost of the burial plot.
If you would like to purchase a plot or set-up a regular schedule of payments, for example: 11 monthly payments of $50.00 or an agreeable arrangement depending on your circumstances, please call the office at 832-3327. There are a number of plots currently available.
