Steepleview Developments
Steepleview Developments, Inc., in cooperation with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saint John, the Cathedral Parish, and Council 937 Knights of Columbus, is moving forward with plans to construct an apartment complex on the sites of the former St. Vincent’s Convent and CYO on the Cathedral Block. Steepleview will consist of approximately forty apartments with a mix of subsidized units and market rent units for seniors, non-elderly singles, or families, depending on the demand. There would also be community rooms for social gatherings and meetings, and an early education centre.
This is an exciting project that will contribute significantly to the revitalization of a historically important area of our city. Residents will enjoy the advantage of living within walking distance of hospital facilities, churches, schools, restaurants, banks, shops, government service centres and many other conveniences available in the heart of the city.
At this stage of the project, it is extremely important to determine the potential number of tenants for the Steepleview complex. Tenant selection and rent for the subsidized apartments will be based on provincial standards. Rents for the non-subsidized units will be consistent with market rents in the area.
If you are interested in renting an affordable apartment in uptown Saint John, please complete the survey by clicking this link: www.surveymonkey.com/r/FTW5DGM
“The mission of Steepleview Developments, Inc. is built on the principle of caring: striving to provide a home, and a safe, clean and inviting community to people of mixed economic backgrounds.”

JOURNEY THROUGH LENT
Given the positive feedback received about the video series Journey through Advent, we are pleased to inform you that we have produced a new series for Lent 2021. Beginning on Ash Wednesday, 17 February 2021, Journey through Lent offers an introduction to the Season and reflections on Gospel readings of each Sunday in Lent. It is the result of a joint project between the CCCB's Office for Evangelization and Catechesis, the National Liturgy Office and the Office national de liturgie.
This short video series will be posted on the CCCB website and accessed through the rolling banner image at the top of the homepage entitled Journey through Lent: Video Series for Lent 2021. You are invited to post the links on your diocesan/eparchial website, as well as on your other social media platforms, and to share them broadly with pastors and pastoral teams who work in diocesan offices and parishes.
The links to the videos, in French and English, will be available on the CCCB website. Each Monday, the link for the upcoming Sunday celebration will be released.
To access the video series in English.
To access the video series in French.
We are very grateful to Bishop Gerard Bergie and Archbishop Marcel Damphousse for their generosity in preparing and recording these spiritual and pastoral reflections. As we continue to experience the pandemic's challenging realities, we hope that Journey through Lent will be a source of deep spiritual solace and insightful pastoral preparation for those looking for meaningful ways to prepare for Easter.
For further information, please contact Mrs. Margaret Shea-Lawrence, at m.shea-lawrence@cccb.ca.
Sincerely yours in Jesus with Mary,
Msgr. Frank Leo, Jr.

Resources for Mass – PDF:
The CCCB General Secretariat has received word from Novalis, Living with Christ and Prions en Église, that during this current health crisis, they are willing to post on their websites PDFs of the pages from Living with Christ and Prions en Église for each upcoming Sunday Mass, as well as for Daily Mass, so as to allow people to download them for free during this limited period of time – until 29 March; this offer will then be assessed based on the situation at that time These resources can help the faithful who follow Mass from their homes on TV or internet. At the very least, they can read the Scriptures and follow along on televised celebrations. The CCCB has given permission to Novalis to do so.
Please click on the following links for the English and French PDF versions of the Sunday Mass Readings and prayers from Novalis:

NEWCOMER UPDATES
Our 1 year commitment to Aman and Mikele is now complete, and we are happy to report that both men are working. Aman is still with Premier Auto, as he has been for the past 10 months. Mikele was hired on with MCL (McLaughlin) Construction starting July 13th; after 3 months, he will be placed on their medical and dental plan and enrolled in the carpentry apprenticeship program. Both men are taking level 3 English lessons online with the Y – they need to reach Level 4 in order to enroll in the GED program and get their high school diplomas. This is necessary in order to write the apprentice blocks for their mechanic and carpentry Red Seals. If you have any time you might spare to help them with English online, it would be much appreciated.
Helen has a job at Rocmaura as a Resident Aide. She is a casual employee but has been picking up extra shifts. She is also doing online English classes, and like the men, needs to complete her GED in order to apply to the Nursing program at NBCC. Helen graduated in Eritrea, but she has no access to her records to prove it. The only challenge she will face with her GED, is her English, although she has been assessed as Level 4-5 reading/writing and 5-6 speaking/listening. She figures that working on her GED will prepare her for studying at NBCC. If you would like to help Helen prepare to write her GED, it would be much appreciated.
Please continue to pray for Helen’s daughter Heldana, who is waiting in Ethiopia with her grandmother, to join her mom here in Canada. Also, please keep in your prayers our other sponsor refugees - Muhamad, awaiting his application in Lebanon, and Aman’s brother Daniel, Lola and their 3 children in Israel. Finally, there is Mikele Beserat’s sister in Israel, who we are joint sponsoring with St. Paul’s Anglican Church and the Coptic Church.
Thank-you for your continued support, prayers and welcoming of our neighbours form afar!
