JANUARY 28/29, 2023 WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS:
DIOCESAN CENSUS – If you have not already done so, please complete a census card as soon as possible – one card per family. They are available at church. Yes, the deadline has passed but the information has not been forwarded to the Diocesan Office yet. It’s not too late to slip one more card into the pile. Or, I have attached a sheet that you can complete and send the information back to the office via email. Your choice.
This information-gathering exercise is underway so the diocese can update records with current demographic changes and contact information. This will help ensure that the diocese can reach as many people as possible in conducting a planning study for a potential capital campaign. Having updated information will also give parishes a better idea of those within the parish and hopefully improve communication. It only takes a few minutes to complete a card (both sides). These can be returned by placing them in the offertory basket, dropping them in the “mail box” to the left of the office door, or mailing it to: Blessed Trinity Parish, 22 Church Street, Hampton NB E5N 5B3. If time is of the essence, you could also call the office (506 832-3327) and I will take your information over the telephone; promise, it will only take a few minutes. Thank you for your cooperation in this important effort. See poster in foyer.
2022 tax receipts - 2022 tax receipts will soon be available.
CONFIRMATION 2023 – We have just received notice from Bishop Riesbeck that Confirmation will be held in our Parish on Tuesday, April 18th at 7:00 p.m. We have three candidates, Grey, Ty and Zach. Each candidate has a Prayer Booklet. These booklets are available for you to take home to pray for them. Please consider doing this in the weeks remaining. The booklets are available in the front entrance of St. Alphonsus. There are blank pages if you want to write a note to the boys. Please remember – they do not teach cursive in school anymore! It would be appreciated if you would return the booklet within a week or two, so other parishioners can continue to pray for Greg, Ty and Zach. Thank you!
MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER RETREAT - Spring time: a time to renew, rekindle and revitalize your marriage! Participate in a Worldwide Marriage Encounter experience and re-discover the person you are married to and fall in love all over again. The next weekend will be held on March 17th to 19th, 2023 at Villa Madonna in Rothesay NB. Consider applying today! Deadline for applications is February 27th. For more information, call Ron or Joanne Arsenault at (506) 451-8489 or email ron.joanne.arsenault@wwme.org
DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE (D&P) – Special collection is not until March 26th, however, the Diocesan Office has is currently arranging activities relating to this year’s theme which is “Create Hope – Stand for the Land.”
For example: a Diocesan Share Lent 2023 workshop – date/time/location TBA; a Solidarity Visitor from Cambodia (tentative date March 20 – information TBA); and a National Launch Webinar with Solidarity Visitors Feb. 25th @ 2:30 p.m. – register, online, to join in this event at devp.org/events .
COLOURING SUPPLIES FOR OUR “WEE” VISITORS – If you are in the company of wee visitors, we have some art supplies available, if a little distraction is desired. The package contains colouring pens, sheets of paper and pictures to be coloured. They are available (only 3) in the foyer of St. Alphonsus. After Mass, please return to the table outside the office and I will ensure they are sanitized for their next visit.
HAMPTON FOOD BASKET (HFB) – During the winter months, the HFB anticipates that their numbers will surely increase. Some pantry staples that are given out on a monthly basis are: Canned meat, canned fish, canned vegetables, soup and cereal. These are the items they would like to have in order to have a well- stocked pantry. If you are able to donate, you can drop off these items in the basket in the foyer of St. Alphonsus and, of course, monetary donations are always welcome. If you want to learn more about the Hampton Food Basket, come to the Knowledge Café at the Hampton Resource Centre, Friday, January 20th , 11:00 a.m. Dee Dee will be making a presentation.
KNOWLEDGE CAFE – Friday, February 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Colin Crealock, from the Town of Hampton, will talk about “Cell Phones and Zoom/Team Calls”. Come and have all your iPhone and Android questions answered. This presentation will explore basic cell phone use as well as teach you how to use Zoom and Teams to video chat with friends and family.
Next Café Friday, February 10th – Presentation by Karl McCarthy of the Bank of Montreal. Karl will advise you on what is required when the bank is notified of a customer’s passing, responsibilities of the Executor/Executrix when dealing with an Estate.
Rule of thumb re: closure due to inclement weather – if school is cancelled, the Café is also cancelled.
The Café is funded by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program. Everyone welcome. Refreshments will be provided.
2023 COLLECTION ENVELOPES – There are a few boxes of the 2023 envelopes available for pick-up in the foyer. Please check to see if your name is there. If you do not want these envelopes, you can return them to the office and I will recycle.
SALVATION ARMY - is operating an emergency overnight shelter for the winter months. They do laundry, every day, for those who they support, including bedding, so laundry detergent is a necessity. If you would like to make a donation of detergent for the next few weeks, please leave it outside the office door.
ROMERO HOUSE VAN – Romero House is operating their van once again this winter. They are distributing only the following items from the van: sleeping bags, gloves, hats and mitts. If you would like to make a donation, please contact Wendy at (506) 832-3327.
DIAL-A-RIDE, FUNDY REGION - The purpose of this program is to help residents with barriers to transportation get to their needed services, such as medical appointments and food banks or grocery shopping. Since the program is volunteer-driven they rely on volunteers to make this possible. Currently, they have a number of clients who need help with affordable transportation in the KV - Hampton areas. This seems to be one of the hardest areas to find volunteers. COVID protocols (masks) are enforced for both the client and driver – no exceptions.
Clients that use this service pay a minimal fee ($0.41/km) and drivers are reimbursed for their km's at $0.45/km. For shorter distances, a flat fee of $5.00, one way or $10.00 round trip, may be charged. This is a relatively new service. They are finding it difficult to recruit suitable volunteers and are often not able to fulfill all of their ride requests. This past month alone, over 100 ride requests were denied due to no volunteer being available. If you can volunteer to be a driver, contact Annie Dunn, Regional Transportation Director, Fundy Region Community Network Inc. at (506) 609-7433. Additional information about this group can be found on their website: www.nbcommunitytransit.com. If you know of someone who may need to use this service, call Charlotte (dispatch) at (506) 349-8551 to book a ride.
~~We are invited to pray for the Holy Father and all those involved in this historic journey of healing, reconciliation and hope.~~

Resources for Mass – PDF:
The CCCB General Secretariat has received word from Novalis, Living with Christ and Prions en Église, that during this current health crisis, they are willing to post on their websites PDFs of the pages from Living with Christ and Prions en Église for each upcoming Sunday Mass, as well as for Daily Mass, so as to allow people to download them for free during this limited period of time – until 29 March; this offer will then be assessed based on the situation at that time These resources can help the faithful who follow Mass from their homes on TV or internet. At the very least, they can read the Scriptures and follow along on televised celebrations. The CCCB has given permission to Novalis to do so.
