REFUGEE UPDATE - Daniel and Lula Germazion (Aman’s brother and family), originally from the military state of Eritrea, are currently living in Israel, where they are under constant threat of deportation. Three years ago, Aman asked us to co-sponsor them and they were very excited to get news last week that they will be arriving in Canada on January 23rd! They have 3 children – two boys and a girl. Mussie (10 yr old boy – size 12), Nazaret (8 yr old girl – size 10) and Senay (3yr old boy – size 6). Aman rented an apartment for them this fall and we have it furnished and ready for them to move in. I recently spoke with a teacher that teaches English to young new arrivals. Ms. Walker told that some children have NEVER worn or owned a coat or long sleeved sweater!! Average temperature in Israel is 27 to 32 degrees C. I’m sure Daniel, Lula, Mussie, Nazaret and Senay will find our environment invigorating, to say the least.
